In our digital age, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a brand that isn’t already on Facebook. Many brands see the platform as a means of connecting with customers and potential leads and they couldn’t be more right. That said, very few actually succeed in doing so.
What’s the secret, you ask? Well, it’s as easy has following these 5 simple steps. Before you hit ‘Post’, be sure to run your Facebook posts by our handy checklist!
1. Lose the flowery language.
Make sure you’re keeping your post copy short, personal and personable. Too long and you run the risk of people tuning out. Heard of the K.I.S.S principle? If not, you should Google it. Don’t worry, we’ll wait.
2. Be mobile-friendly.
This one goes hand-in-hand with the latter. Remember that most – approximately 70%! – of your Facebook fans will be viewing your post on their mobile devices. This means that 70% of the time you have limited screen space to work with. And, depending on your device, sometimes it can take quite a while to scroll through a 420–character post. When Facebook is concerned, keeping it simple is always the best policy.
Always include a call to action in your Facebook posts. Links are a great way to do this. Encourage your fans to dive deeper into your page or redirect them to your blog articles, whitepapers, videos or other multimedia that may be of interest. Always remember to shorten your links, too. This allows for less clutter and easier readability.
4. Snap a pic.
A picture says a thousand words right? So, what better way to cut down on your post copy than to upload an image? Photographs are also great for grabbing attention and they’re often a welcomed change from the millions upon millions of words posted to Facebook each and every day.
When choosing your photo, go for one with contrasting colours (reds, oranges) that stand out from Facebook’s blue theme. Logos aren’t usually proven to be effective in this instance.
5. Engagement is the name of the game.
Don’t just post something and stand there! Ask an engaging question in the comments to initiate a response or conversation from your fans. Always, always monitor your Facebook posts (likes, comments) and ensure that you are responding in a timely fashion.
